About Us

MyBazar is a social-commerce marketplace for independent brands and user communities in emerging markets. For the past 4 years, we’ve been proud to develop a minimum marketable product (MMP), enabling small businesses in Malaysia to build successful businesses online. Based on our findings and achievements in Malaysia, it is now time for us to further develop our marketplace to give small businesses in Africa, Balkans and the Middle East the tools that only the big players have had access to before.

The Role

We are looking an experienced Node.js Developer responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and the users (merchants and their customers). Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. You will also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by your co-workers into the application. Therefore, a basic understanding of front-end technologies is necessary as well.

Skills and Qualities

• Strong proficiency with JavaScript 
• Knowledge of Node.js and frameworks available for it
• Knowledge of security and data protection (payments platforms, third-party integrations, APIs and security)
• Knowledge of data storage solutions(performance optimization, AWS)
• Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds
• Good understanding of server-side templating languages
• Good understanding of server-side CSS pre-processors
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as React.js, HTML5 and CSS3
• Understanding accessibility and security compliance
• User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
• Integration of multiple data sources and databases into one system
• Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• Understanding differences between multiple delivery platforms, such as mobile vs. desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform
• Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written

Yii Developer (project-based)

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Yii Developer responsible for the development of our Admin tool services and the interchange of data between the server and the users via our web application. Your primary focus will be the development of new functionality, definition and maintenance of the Admin tool, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. You will also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by your co-workers into the Admin tool. Therefore, a basic understanding of front-end technologies is necessary as well.

Skills and Qualities

• Strong knowledge of Yii 2 framework
• Ability to build efficient, testable, and reusable PHP modules
• Understanding of MVC design patterns
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as React.js, HTML5, and CSS3
• Understanding of accessibility and security compliance
• Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• Knowledge of object oriented PHP programming
• Strong knowledge of the common PHP or web server exploits and their solutions
• Familiarity with limitations of PHP as a platform and its workarounds
• Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and their declarative query languages
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written

React.js Developer (project-based)

Based on our findings and achievements in Malaysia, it is now time for us to further develop our marketplace to give small businesses in Africa, Balkans and the Middle East the tools that only the big players have had access to before.

The Role

We are looking an experienced React.js Developer, responsible for developing and optimizing components for maximum performance across a vast array of web-capable devices and browsers. Your primary focus will be developing and implementing user-facing features, following well-known React.js workflows (such as Flux or Redux). You will ensure that these components and the overall application are robust and easy to maintain, build reusable components and front-end libraries for future use. You will coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure, translating designs and wireframes into high-quality code. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and quality product is important.

Skills and Qualities

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model
• Thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles
• Experience with popular React.js workflows
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs
• Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token
• Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
• Strong knowledge of benchmarking and optimization
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written
